To crate or to box? That is the question.

We know it seems like a big decision, crate or box? It’s actually pretty simple, really. Just ask yourself these questions:

  1. How much stuff do you have, a little or a lot? If it’s a lot, the crate might be the right choice. But if you want to keep your items separated by room or category, you might want to go with boxes. Keep in mind that all our boxes are 20” x 20” x 15”.
  2. Where do you live? If you live in a populous city, we recommend boxes. Crates have to be constructed at the curb and will have to stay there until they get picked up (they won’t fit through your front door). In suburbs and rural areas, that shouldn’t be a problem but in a city, it could be an issue.
  3. What are your items? Boxes are great for household items like books, clothes, and your other odds and ends. But if you have some furniture pieces, the crate is definitely the way to go.
  4. Is anything fragile? Boxes are cardboard. Crates are wood. Both our crates and boxes are sturdy, but obviously the crate is a little more durable, because, well, it’s wood.
  5. Where are you headed? Boxes are priced per box, while crates are priced by size and distance. We recommend checking out both options to see which price is right for you.
